See the world in new ways – and be inspired to change it.
We reduce our carbon footprint in every way we can. We make our technology smarter, build it to last longer and engineer it to have a second life – and more lives beyond that. And we empower future generations and support the communities we operate in.
We’re doing all this transparently and collaboratively with our customers and partners, so they benefit from products and initiatives that reduce their impact on the planet, too.
Our actions

We are working towards a 3% average annual improvement in the index of lifecycle CO₂ emissions (per product unit), realising a cumulative improvement of 50% by 2030 compared to 2008. We aim to achieve net zero CO₂ emissions for the whole product lifecycle (Scope 1-3) by 2050. This involves action across our operations, our approach to product design and manufacturing, how we deliver products, how we support their use and how they are reused or recycled at end of contract.
Download the InfographicIt’s our ambition to become a circular business. We are aiming for our products and materials to be designed and created in such a way that uses as much recycled material as possible. At the end of their life, they can be reused, repaired, or recycled.

We are committed to environmental stewardship and responsible sourcing. Our paper suppliers adhere to rigorous standards, and we ensure the raw materials for our media come from renewable sources and sustainably managed forests, certified by FSC® or PEFC.
Starting from ethical sourcing from sustainably managed forests, we work to minimise the carbon emitted throughout the lifecycle of our media.
We work with energy efficient paper mills that recover energy from their production, and make sure our logistics don’t lead to unnecessary emissions, through reduced packaging and consolidated shipments.
Any unavoidable carbon emissions are balanced through financial contribution towards climate projects.
Our recycled paper grades mean customers can choose media with a recycled content of up to 100%. The paper content comes from used paper fibres that have been recycled, minimising the need for new raw materials. Our packaging also includes 80-100% recycled cardboard options.
All Canon media goes through testing procedures to optimise performance, eliminating paper jams and misprints.
